Dear Kay,
The run yesterday definitely brought the mood up a bit. Going to make a pact to try not to miss runs from now on. Met Yu Ming at the bus stop this morning, crazy seeing as I hadn’t even heard her leave this morning. Definitely warming to her, just wish the communication was a bit easier. Treated myself to a nice early night last night but still somehow managed to wake up exhausted. Could’ve been the monstrous snoring that was coming from the room next door. Never heard anything like that before. I thought Anne (previous roomie) was bad! Don’t even get me started on the talking!
Wasn’t so productive at work today, though wasn’t exactly in the mood to work. Where, oh where has my motivation gone? Spent the day chatting to the lads and messing around with lunchtime schedules. Second best moment of the day was receiving a €20 promo code for a free taxi journey. Someone is looking out for me today! Took my free taxi and was home suuuuppperr early. Even managed to get him to drop me outside the grocery store. Bought some stuff for a Pad Thai dinner and a nice bottle of white wine to wash it all down with.
Arrived home to find Yu Ming in the kitchen, then called Mam. Can’t wait until I’m home next. Mam seems to be slowly becoming my best companion in my current lonely state. Popped out of my room to start on dinner and Nelly (surprise roomie numéro 2) sitting at the table eating another pizza. Was halfway through preparing dinner when Fi (second previous roomie and awesome friend) called to the door. Let Fi up, big hugs all round and listened to the magical tales she had about her time away. Ate Pad Thai with Fi and drank lots of wine. This was by far the best part of the day. Fi only managed to stay for about 2 hours, way too short.
The apartment seems so empty without her now. It was like a glimpse into the past when we would all sit around and chat and eat dinner. When this place felt more like a home than a house. Can’t believe how much I miss her already but so delighted with the visit. I almost feel special that she made the time and effort to visit, considering I didn’t feel like I was an overly important part of her extravagant life.
I really hope Yu Ming and Nelly won’t be permanent roomies. I definitely need life, like Fi and Anne brought to the place, for the coming year. I miss the old days. But I’m hopeful for the future.
